Villa Maria

Villa Maria started life in 1961 when Sir Gerorge Fistonich at the age of just 21 leased five acres of land from his father and began by growing just one acre of vines. His first wine was created the following year under the name Villa Maria.

Over fifty years on, Villa Maria now owns estates across New Zealand, with vineyards and wineries in Auckland, Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Marlborough. Sir Gerorge Fistonich became the proud recipient of New Zealand's first knighthood in recognition of his contributions to the country's wine industry.
