Velho Barreiro cachaca was introduced in 1975 by Industrias Reunidas de Bebidas Tatuzinho, one of Brazil's most important cachaca manufacturers. In spite of cachaca being the world's third most consumed spirit, only about 1% of cachaca is exported outside of Brazil, making Velho Barreiro one of Brazil's best-kept secrets.
