Pusser's Rum is the creation of Charles Tobias, who set out to resurrect the rum which had so famously been distributed to the British Royal navy for centuries. From 1655, all sailors in the Navy were given a daily ration of rum by the ship's "Purser" (or in the sailors' slang, the "Pusser"). The tradition ended in 1970, and so Charles Tobias acquired the rights and blending information from the Admiralty in order to bring back the Pusser's Rum.
Today, Pusser's Rum still follows the same exact specifications set forth by the Navy all those years ago. Pusser's Rum also gives back to the Royal Navy that gave us this wonderful creation, by donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each bottle to the Royal Navy Sailors Fund, a naval charity known as the "Tot Fund" by many, aiding serving Royal Navy sailors. |
