Nonino
The Nonino distillery was established in 1897 by Orazio Nonino in the Friuli region of Italy. Until that point the family had simply owned a movable still mounted on wheels. The Nonino family, who continue to run the company today, have heavily innovated in the field of grappa production, being the first company to produce a single grape variety grappa in 1973 and then in 1984 as the first to produce a whole-grape distillate. In 2003, Nonino was awarded the Leonardo Prize for Italian Quality by the Italian president for a brand that conveys the importance of family and commitment to one's work. The company's distinctive emblem is an ancient symbol of alcohol from the middle ages. |
