Monkey 47 is inspired by the life and times of Wing Commander Montgomery Collins, a diplomat, soldier and philanthropist early in his life, before turning to distilling and the restaurant trade later. His guesthouse in Germany's Black Forest named 'The Wild Monkey' served his signature Schwartzwald Dry Gin until the 1970s.
This story provided the inspiration for distiller Alex Stein to create his range of gins, sourcing ingredients from the Black Forest to resurrect Collins' legacy. |
