Founded in 1715, Martell is one of the oldest cognac houses. Unlike most cognac houses, Martell produces cognac exclusively from the Borderies region of Cognac. When Jean Martell first founded the house, he already had sights on this smallest and most sought after of the Cognac crus. The Ugni Blanc grapes of this unique terroir create an eau-de-vie with distinct floral aromas and exceptional smoothness.
Martell is also unique in being the only great cognac house to distil from clear wines, having removed sediment and impurities. This produces eaux-de-vie of exceptional purity. These eaux-de-vie are then blended by Martell's Cellar Master Benoit Fil, who upholds the style and traditions of the house passed down through over 300 years. |
