This rich, complex single malt has a unique natural, rich colour and a character that all comes from first fill sherry seasoned oak casks from Spain. The sherry casks are handcrafted by the master craftsmen of Jerez de la Frontera, the home of sherry. In order to ensure the highest quality and character, the casks at the heart of this rich single malt are taken from a single cooperage. The cooperage exclusively creates Spanish oak casks. The casks are seasoned with sherry, that creates the unique flavour of this exceptional whisky. Rich in spice and dried fruit with an intense layer of orange groves, this is an enticing, dark, whisky that delivers the classic Macallan character.
Colour: Dark sunset orange.
Nose: Raisin, dates and figs aromas dominate, whilst further notes of sultana and toffee apples add texture and depth. The weight of flavour from the raisins is dark and rich with great viscosity. Dry ginger and soft cinnamon hint at the edges. Dark chocolate is majestic, vanilla sweetness lingers in the background.
Palate: Heavy and sumptuous initially in the mouth. Reminscent of rich fruit cake with raisin, dates and figs, apples, sultanas, orange flavours then ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and hints of clove. The oak notes have a velvety soft texture.
Finish: Silky smooth with a long and full finish.
