Laurent Perrier Brut Millésimé Vintage 2012 has a white gold colour with a fine sparkle. Flowery on the nose with great complexity and notes of citrus and white peaches. It exherts its presence with a lively attack on the palate and great finesse with good minerality and notes of grapefruit on the finish. Serve at between 9°C and 11°C to best appreciate.
2012 was a year complicated with winter and spring frosts and hail, which had an impact on the yield, which was rather moderate. The dry, sunny summer allowed the grapes to ripen to perfection allowing for an exceptional harvest.
Brut Millésimé 2012 pairs excellently with seafood and noble fish as well as with poultry or veal. This wine is sublime with hard pressed cheeses such as a young Comté or a Beaufort.
Background: The Brut Millésimé is made exclusively from wines from the very best crus or villages. Historically, most of these crus have formed the basis of Laurent-Perrier's champagnes. The most prestigious among them are: Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize, Cramant and Chouilly for Chardonnay and Bouzy, Ay, Verzy, Mailly, Rilly-la-Montagne for the Pinot Noir. Ageing in cellars lasts for at least seven years, and very light dosage is used to allow the wine to reveal its true nature. Laurent-Perrier elects to be highly selective by only producing a vintage in the very best years. This means that the Brut Millésimé is an exceptional and rare wine.
