Klein Constantia

Klein Constantia is one of three estates which originally comprised the first wine farm in South Africa. Constantia was established in 1685 by the Dutch East India Company's Governor of the Cape Simon van der Stel, but with no family to take the reins upon his death, the estate was divided into three and sold, one of which became Klein Constantia.

Klein Constantia has operated under numerous owners over the centuries, but their wines have always received high acclaim, and are mentioned in the works of Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and Charles Baudelaire. 'Les vins de Constance' were also famously requested by Napoleon Bonaparte on his deathbed.
