Dubonnet was first created in 1946 as part of a competition by the French government to find a way to encourage French Foreign Legionnaires to drink quinine to combat malaria while stationed in Africa.
Dubonnet has found popularity in the creation of a number of unique cocktails. World renowned mixologist Gary Regan has been quoted as saying "Dubonnet was the first bottle I found in my hand when a customer challenged me to create a brand new drink for her".
Dubonnet is also famously enjoyed by Queen Elizabeth II who likes two-parts Dubonnet and one-part gin with ice and a slice of lemon while watching The Daily Politics. |
