Dingle Original Gin is the product of a considerable amount of research. The result is a unique gin, which works within the great traditions of gin distillation but also comes with a touch of innovation. Its broad style is that of a London dry gin. Its unique character comes from the choice of botanicals. The combination of botanicals are macerated in the spirit for 24 hours. Then, when the spirit is distilled, it passes through a flavour basket in the neck of the still. This process underlines the attention to detail that is an essential part of the whole approach to the art of distillation.
Botanicals used include rowan berry from the mountain ash trees, fuchsia, bog myrtle, hawthorn and heather for a taste of the Kerry landscape. It's a unique combination, unknown elsewhere and has been created to give a sense of place and provenance. The spirit is collected at 70% abv and then cut to 42.5% abv using the purest of water which is drawn from Dingle Distillery's very own well, 240 feet below ground.
To taste, the unique Irish botanicals give a fabulous fresh, floral character that is perfectly balanced by the traditional juniper.
Dingle Original Gin is best served with large cubes of ice, a wedge of fresh orange and a sprinkling of juniper berries.
Dingle Gin was awarded the World's Best London Dry Gin at the World Gin Awards 2019 and the overall award for World's Best Gin.
