Contino Gran Reserva Rioja has an intense and bright ruby red colour. Highly aromatic on the nose, with hints of red and black autumn fruit aromas along with touches of toasted and spicy notes of sweet bourbon character. Full-bodied and well structured on the palate with great depth. The finish is long, velvety and complex.
Grapes are carefully selected from choice plots on the Contino estate to make this elegant Rioja. It's aged in a mix of French and American oak barrels for two years prior to ageing in the bottle for a further year before release.
This 2011 vintage Gran Reserva was only bottled in magnum and larger formats. A classic style Rioja. It's amazingly well executed, producing a Rioja that is ready to drink now, but will happily evolve further until 2031.
The bottle comes presented in a branded wood box.
