The Arran 18 Year Old is the second oldest expression in the core range of this relatively young distillery. Following a limited edition 18 year old expression in 2015 which sold out immediately, this bottling is to be a permanent part of the Arran range. The malts in this expression are a marriage of whiskies patiently matured in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks for 18 years. A deep golden colour, it has rich sweet aromas of butterscotch and caramel and lighter, fruitier notes, mango, apple and pear, with a few hints of oak spices. Soft, yet full-bodied and complex on the palate. Tropical fruit flavours are prominent, orange, mango and pineapple, the sweet butterscotch persists and is underpinned by notes of dark chocolate and coffee. The Arran 18 Year Old is presented un-chill filtered with natural colour for the purest expression. |
