The Aberlour distillery was founded in the 19th Century by James Fleming with the dream of creating the finest Speyside single malt of all. A man of enterprise, vision and compassion, generous with both time and money, Fleming lived by his family's ethos: "Let the deed show", an ethos upheld by the distillery today. Aberlour is a name associated with tradition and experience. There are those who recall the days when the brewer would tour the distillery to give each worker a daily dram. Although modernisation and technology has inevitably altered the composition of the distillery, many of the original features are still there and the traditional working character of the place remains unchanged.
